About this role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an exceptional Global Account Manager to lead strategic engagement with one of our most significant global retail customers headquartered in Japan. This role sits within the AWS Industries organization, specifically supporting our Retail & Consumer Goods business unit across the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

As a Global Account Manager, you will be responsible for driving cloud transformation and business outcomes for a large-scale global retailer with complex, multi-regional operations. You will serve as the primary AWS relationship owner, orchestrating resources across AWS to deliver comprehensive solutions that address both Japan-specific requirements and global business objectives.

Key job responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
- Own the overall relationship and business outcomes for a global retail IBU account headquartered in Japan
- Develop and execute comprehensive account strategies that align AWS capabilities with customer's digital transformation objectives
- Drive C-level engagement across customer's Japan headquarters and global operations
- Orchestrate complex, multi-regional sales motions involving teams across APJ, NAMER, and EMEA

Business Development & Growth
- Identify and develop new opportunities across the customer's global footprint, with particular focus on Japan market dynamics
- Build and execute go-to-market plans that address retail-specific use cases including omnichannel commerce, supply chain optimization, customer experience transformation, and data-driven merchandising
- Drive adoption of AWS services across compute, storage, databases, analytics, AI/ML, and industry-specific solutions
- Achieve ambitious revenue targets while maintaining high customer satisfaction scores

Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor on retail industry trends, best practices, and innovation opportunities
- Leverage deep understanding of Japanese business culture and retail market dynamics
- Apply Amazonian principles and AWS retail reference architectures to customer challenges
- Facilitate knowledge sharing between customer and AWS retail practice globally

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead virtual teams including Solutions Architects, Professional Services, Partner teams, and AWS service teams
- Manage inbound coordination for global customer initiatives originating from other regions
- Build and leverage partner ecosystems to deliver comprehensive solutions

About the team
The AWS Industries team is committed to helping industry customers enable their digital transformation journeys. Our primary goal is to meet customers in their cloud journeys and work backwards from their industry-specific needs to transform their businesses and industries. Our team focuses on business outcomes and industry use cases on behalf of our customers, whether that is how we build products and solutions, how we sell, how we deliver, or how we partner.

Within the Retail & Consumer Goods practice, we work with the world's leading retailers to reimagine customer experiences, optimize operations, and drive innovation at scale. Basic Qualifications: - Fluency in Japanese and professional proficiency in English
- 8+ years of direct sales or business development in software, cloud or SaaS markets selling to C-level executives experience
- Experience working with, presenting to, and negotiating with C-level executives, IT, lines of business, procurement, finance, legal and internal stakeholders for sizeable commercial/enterprise deals
- Experience creating and implementing long-term transformational account strategies in a customer-facing role or equivalent
- Experience working with global retail or consumer goods companies Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in the retail or consumer goods industry
- Deep understanding of Japanese business culture and enterprise decision-making processes
- Experience managing global accounts with operations across multiple regions
- Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year strategic account plans
- Track record of building profitable partner ecosystems and alliance relationships
