Alumni Ventures is looking for a full-time Senior Associate to join one of our investment teams. This position is part of a team that manages Waterman Ventures and 116 Street Ventures, as well as helps with International Initiatives. The position primarily focuses on sourcing investment opportunities, managing investment processes, and overseeing portfolio management tasks. Alumni Ventures is a multi-sector investor with a preference for Seed and Series A/B opportunities. This role is designed for a generalist investment athlete. This individual will also assist in researching and evaluating potential investment strategies, as well as managing relationships with portfolio companies and fellow venture investors. Alumni Ventures operates exclusively as a co-investor, investing alongside well-established venture funds. The successful candidate will source high-quality investments for our funds and have significant input in creating annual portfolios of approximately 20 to 30 venture investments per fund.
What you'll do
- Proactively source and contribute high-quality leads that align with the team’s investment thesis and firm-wide initiatives.
- Drive a strong conversion rate from sourced deals to qualified investment opportunities.
- Lead initial due diligence on potential investments, engaging directly with founders, customers, and market data.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to strengthen investment decisions.
- Contribute to the successful execution of approved investments, from term sheet to close.
- Maintain tight alignment with the firm’s investment strategy to build a high-performing, well-balanced portfolio.
- Grow and leverage a robust network of founders, VCs, and industry experts to gain access to top-tier deal flow.
- Build relationships that expand the firm’s visibility and influence in the venture ecosystem.
- Partner with the team to support fundraising activities, investor relations, and community engagement through events, webinars, and thought leadership.
- Actively manage and support portfolio companies, fostering growth and long-term value creation.
- Monitor portfolio performance through regular CEO check-ins, performance tracking, and strategic guidance.
