Job Summary
The AOI Operator ensures in-process or final product meets specifications before being provided for further processing or shipment to the customer.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

- Accurately perform automated optical (AOI) inspection of assemblies in production mode.
- Perform equipment non-routine and weekly/monthly preventative maintenance.
- Act as an authorized agent to stop production when nonconformances are noted and report any errors or major discrepancies to the production lead and/or management immediately, so immediate corrective action may be taken.
- Record all AOI daily run information, keep accurate and detailed records.
- Keep rejected products segregated from accepted.
- Assist with visual inspection, as needed.
- Responsible for compliance to Virtex’s Quality Management System and other regulatory and statutory requirements as required by the customer.
- Accountable for accepting responsibility for continuous on the job training by actively participating in training put on by designated Virtex employees and/or any outside service.
- Actively participate in quality efforts and support the Virtex Quality Policy through accountable action.
- Understand all production processes that relate to inspection; use industry standards and good judgement in determining acceptable standards. Read and comprehend documentation relating to phases of production, such as customer-supplied blueprints, parts lists, etc.
Requirements
Education & Qualification
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Due to ITAR Restrictions, US Citizenship or green card is required.
- High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) preferred, or 6 months’ related work experience.
Work Experience – Technical knowledge
- 6 months related work experience.
- AOI and/or Inspection of electronic assembly helpful, inspection experience preferred.
Professional Skills
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents such as standard operation procedures, blueprints, and other related documents.

Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610, and/or J-STD-001 is a plus.
Physical Demand
- Ability to lift, push and pull 10 to 45 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to focus.
Work Environment
- Flexibility to work extra hours when needed, including weekends.
- Able to work under pressure and with tight timelines.
- Must have advanced working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office products of Excel, Word.
