This Sr. Manager, Planning & Network Optimization works closely with the operations, pricing, and engineering teams to provide operational plans and high level capital estimates for potential new business awards coming through CRM.

They will work closely with regional operations leadership, using ERP data to identify capacity constraints on existing business and provide investment solutions or alternatives to alleviate these constraints. They will also review plant utilization and recommend plant consolidation opportunities to the business.

Operational Planning:

  • Lead the creation of operational plans during the RFP process to define product cost structures, aiming to maximize profitability and assist pricing department. 

  • Develop operational plans to optimize the placement of new SKUs/customers across production lines.

  • Determine high-level capital requirements for new SKU/customer opportunities.

  • Evaluate the trade-offs between one-time high capital investments vs. incurring on-going operational expenses (e.g. labor, freight, etc.) to determine best ROI.

  • Develop operational plans that minimize plant changeovers to reduce costs.

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with operations, customer service and commercial teams to foster efficient working teams

  • Ad-hoc requests related to unforeseen production disruptions.

Strategic Network Optimization:

  • Highlight quick growth opportunities with minimal or no capital investment.

  • Collaborate with sales teams to proactively identify opportunities to minimize custom SKUs to reduce network complexity and/or save capital. 

  • Analyze plants to identify opportunities to increase throughput or reduce costs

    • Identify low utilization line consolidation opportunities to streamline operations and enhance profitability.

    • Conduct peer group assessments to identify underperforming assets

    • Proactively identify capital investment to minimize operational costs.

    • Conduct network optimization analyses to identify freight reduction opportunities.

  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Research, Data Science or a related field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant management, network planning, supply chain optimization, or a related field within the manufacturing industry.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and modeling.

  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Experience with large company ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Infor, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel Skills

  • Experience with Linear Programming

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI & Tableau

  • Programming Skills such as Python, R, SQL, Visual Basic
