Alta Material Handling is seeking a full-time Shop Supervisor for our Dorval, QC branch. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Lead daily shop operations and ensure efficient workflow
  • Maintain strong customer and employee relations with a focus on quality service
  • Assign, prioritize, and coordinate work for internal and external customers
  • Oversee the full work order process from opening to closure to ensure accuracy and timely billing
  • Review and analyze department metrics to support operational targets
  • Monitor work in progress, including labor performance and job status updates
  • Support technician development through tracking of training, certifications, and skills
  • Ensure the facility and equipment are maintained to company standards
  • Integrate Alta’s Guiding Principles into everyday decisions and actions
  • Enforce and promote all Safety Standards and shop PPE requirements
  • Perform other duties as required to support the service operation 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in French and English (mandatory)
  • 4-6 years of previous supervisory experience preferred
  • General knowledge of electric and liquid propane forklift units
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good customer relations and people skills
  • Ability to successfully manage others
  • Computer Skills - Hyster/Yale Contact Management, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages.
