The Position 
 

ALS Coal currently has opportunities available for 7 Day Panel Roster Samplers & Coal Preparation Technicians, based at our Newcastle site in Mayfield, NSW. 

The position will require weekend work as well as shift work (day, night). If you have a drive to produce quality results and a strong team spirit, we would like to hear from you. 


The position requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe & efficient manner
  • Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions & current best methods.
  • Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams.
  • A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage.
  • Transfer validated results into the reporting system
  • Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment.

Requirements:
 

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Current rights to work in Australia (visa, permanent resident or citizen)
  • A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently without supervision 
  • Comfortable with safe manual handling duties, including repetitive lifting
  • Competent within a strong safety culture
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
  • Previous coal sampling experience would be an advantage but not essential
  • Flexible and be able to perform shift work and weekend work as required

 
NOTE: Full training will be provided to successful applicants

As part of the selection process, pre-employment medical exam is required, including drug and alcohol assessment.
