Specific Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance, repairs and troubleshoot on equipment such as heating and A/C units, and blowers;

• Maintenance, repair and troubleshoot of prep laboratory equipment;

• Plumbing and carpentry work;

• Provides reports to Manager;

• Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring quality of work;

• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;

• Other duties as assigned, (samples layout, crushing, and pulverizing)

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude; • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Strong command of the English language;

• Strong interpersonal skills;

• Excellent problem solving skills;

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Required Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in general building repairs and operations is required;

• Experience working with carpentry, plumbing, drywall and/or painting will be an asset;

• 1 year experience working in the sample preparation environment;

• Forklift certificate or experience will be an asset;

• A valid First-Aid certificate will be an asset.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (23kg); (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)

• Extensive walking, climbing or movement, bending, kneeling and working with machines;

• Comfortable in environments with high noise levels.

• Please note that ALS Geochemistry operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
