Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (Hybrid) – London

<p><strong>Location: </strong>London</p> <p><strong>Start date: </strong>Immediate</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>The role:</strong></p> <p>AlphaSights is seeking a highly experienced, self-driven Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our Software Engineering Team. We are a digital business in which continuous uptime, product quality, and user experience are critical to success. The role of the QA Automation Engineer therefore represents a visible and valued opportunity to have an immediate impact. Working alongside Software Engineering and Product Management, you will lead the design and implementation of automated testing solutions that scale across our platform, ensuring our applications are reliable, scalable, and meet the highest standards across frontend, backend, and APIs.</p> <p>You must be proactive, creative, and collaborative, always looking for ways to improve your own work while supporting the wider team’s success. This is a hands-on, leadership-oriented role: while you will continue developing and maintaining automated tests, you will also drive QA strategy, set technical standards, mentor QA and engineering team members, and help define best practices for testing, quality, and reliability. In this fast-paced environment, you will maintain a positive, problem-solving mindset and embrace the challenge of delivering seamless user experiences through robust test automation.</p> <p>Working largely with the teams based in London/Portugal, you will also have the opportunity to work with teams based in other offices across EMEA, US and Asia.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Lead the design and development&nbsp;</strong>of automated test plans, suites, and frameworks across multiple projects to ensure comprehensive test coverage and high-quality releases</li> <li><strong>Mentor and guide junior QA engineers</strong>, helping them develop their automation skills and fostering a culture of quality and best practices</li> <li><strong>Maintain and scale&nbsp;</strong>test automation infrastructure, ensuring it supports CI/CD pipelines, cross-platform validation, and fast feedback loops</li> <li><strong>Perform targeted</strong>&nbsp;<strong>manual testing</strong>, including exploratory testing, edge-case validation, and UI/UX verification where required</li> <li><strong>Collaborate</strong>&nbsp;<strong>closely&nbsp;</strong>with Engineering and Product teams to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and testing priorities for complex features</li> <li><strong>Drive</strong>&nbsp;<strong>cross-team initiatives</strong>&nbsp;to improve QA processes, testing tools, and overall engineering quality standards</li> <li><strong>Monitor, triage, and investigate&nbsp;</strong>test failures, raising clear and actionable bugs while working with engineering teams to ensure timely resolution</li> <li><strong>Provide feedback&nbsp;</strong>on UI/UX enhancements and ensure that automated tests reflect real user flows and edge-case scenarios</li> <li><strong>Influence technical strategy&nbsp;</strong>related to performance, load, and security testing, and advocate for automation best practices across the organization</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Who you are:</strong></p> <ul> <li>You probably have<strong>&nbsp;a degree in a STEM subject</strong>, but we’re happy to work with people who perfected their craft via a different route.</li> <li><strong>Experience working at a similar level in a mature Engineering team</strong>, and looking to take your career to the next level. We’re looking for people who have incredible potential.</li> <li><strong>Technical expertise</strong>&nbsp;in designing, building, and scaling automated test frameworks using modern tools (ideally Cypress or Playwright), and proficiency in at least one programming language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or Java. Demonstrated ability to architect automation solutions across frontend, backend, and APIs, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and fast feedback in CI/CD pipelines, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, data validation (SQL/NoSQL), and test integration within microservice-based architectures.</li> <li><strong>Proven track record&nbsp;</strong>– you’ve made a demonstrable impact in your previous roles, standing out from your peers.
