About this role
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff to take ownership of high-impact, user-facing systems and contribute meaningfully across the stack. This role is designed for an engineer who operates with strong technical judgment, enjoys ambiguity, and wants direct influence over product direction and system design.
Early on, you’ll focus on building and scaling core UI and application-layer features, while collaborating closely with a deeply technical team spanning systems engineering and applied machine learning. A significant portion of the work will be open source, with scope and responsibility growing quickly based on impact.
Responsibilities
Own and drive complex initiatives from concept through production across the full stack
Design and implement user-facing systems, including core UI and application workflows
Partner with backend and ML engineers to translate complex systems into usable products
Make architectural decisions with an eye toward performance, reliability, and maintainability
Contribute to and maintain open-source codebases used by external developers
Raise the bar for code quality, technical rigor, and engineering best practices
Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance
Qualifications
7+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong full-stack background with depth in at least one area (frontend, backend, or systems)
Proven experience owning and shipping complex, production systems
Solid frontend experience (React or similar) and comfort working across APIs and data layers
Strong technical judgment and ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments
High standards for design, usability, and developer experience
Curiosity and motivation to learn across the stack and contribute beyond a narrow role
Working Style
In-person collaboration, five days per week in NYC
