Shape the future of regional healthcare - Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is seeking a visionary Director of Emergency & Critical Care to join us in a fixed-term capacity to cover Long Service Leave. This is a unique opportunity to lead our high-quality acute services during a transformative period of growth, providing strategic and operational leadership for our Emergency and Critical Care divisions while driving excellence across two states.
Operational Excellence: Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will manage service delivery, clinical safety, quality, and financial performance while ensuring integrated workforce planning.
Culture & Engagement: Champion a strong, inclusive culture to improve staff engagement and retention, positioning AWH as an "Employer of Choice" through contemporary models of care.
We are actively seeking applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Extensive clinical practice experience and post graduate qualification in a relevant area of specialty.
- Post graduate qualification at a Masters level (or working towards) in an area such as healthcare leadership, business administration, health policy or associated field.
- Demonstrated experience and operational skills required to manage a team of multidisciplinary health professionals and administrative staff.

AWH serves as the largest regional healthcare provider between Sydney and Melbourne, situated in the border cities of Albury and Wodonga. With a dedicated team of over 3,000 professionals, we proudly service a population of up to 300,000 across North-East Victoria and Southern NSW. Our extensive network encompasses two primary hospital campuses and an additional 22 sites, delivering a diverse range of emergency, surgical, women’s and children’s, community, mental health, allied health, and sub-acute services. Our growth continues with the opening of a state-of-the-art Emergency Department in 2024, and excitingly, the construction of a new hospital at our Albury site by 2028. About Albury Wodonga Health
AWH is a unique service. Established on 1 July 2009 it is the first cross border public health service to exist in Australia, and operates under an agreement between New South Wales and Victorian governments to provide the largest regional health care services between Sydney and Melbourne. It supports an outer catchment population of 250,000 and covers the North-East of Victoria and Southern New South Wales.
We have over 1,700 staff and over 200 volunteers meeting the needs of our diverse regional community.
