The residency manager is responsible for oversight of all educational administration in their designated department including the clerkship coordinators, residency coordinators, and fellowship coordinators. The program manager is directly responsible to the department chair and program directors. The residency manager functions as a liaison between the clerkship and program directors and graduate medical education office, hospital administration, academic administration office, as well as other departments, divisions, residents, and students. The residency manager is also responsible for overseeing the accreditation renewal processes, coordination of site visits, recruitment of learners and important programmatic events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Overall management of the residency and fellowship programs
  • In conjunction with the program directors, ensuring that the programs meet the current standards established by regulatory and accreditation bodies, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Hires, trains and supervises staff
  • Management of the day-to-day program activities including rotation schedule development, conference scheduling, resident evaluation process completion, faculty meeting preparation and other activities as requested
  • Maintenance of all essential documents required for program accreditation
  • Financial management of the residency program operations
  • Ensuring that departmental reports and correspondence are prepared and delivered in a timely manner
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures
  • Develops and creates resident and fellow program evaluations
  • Creates evaluation reports needed to identify areas for program improvement
  •  Exemplifies and represents the medical center and other institutions by being the liaison between residency program and residents
  • Coordinates the resident recruitment processes

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in management or social science - required
  • Master's Degree in management or social science - preferred
  • 1-3 years of office management experience with prior experience in education - required
  • Preparation of educational and performance reports
  • Education program development
  • Development of programming for learners
  • Supervision of residency coordinator, medical clerkship coordinator and other education-based administration
  • Recruitment of administrative staff in the education space
  • Residency program annual calendar
  • Recruitment of residents and fellows
  • International medical graduates including various local & state regulations
  • Residency curriculum and annual academic cycle
  • Medical student curriculum and annual academic cycle
  • Knowledgeable of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for institutional, core, and program requirement
  • Continuing medical education
