Job Description Summary

The Monitor Technician I have the responsibilities of 1) recording electrocardiograms (EKGs) of customers ranging in age from newborn to geriatric; 2) downloading EKGs from cart to MUSE EKG Computer System; 3) delivering cardiac rhythm strips from the telemetry station to the various nursing units and posting these strips in specified unit locations 4) performing miscellaneous duties related to cardiac monitoring including but not limited to troubleshooting telemetry transmitter packs (i.e., replacing worn electrodes, changing batteries, changing wires, etc.); 5) assisting in the search and retrieval of misplaced telemetry transmitter packs and cardiac pacemakers; and 6) educating various disciplines in EKG technique.

Job Description

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.  Ability to read documents such as requisitions.  Ability to document on established forms.  Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively to clients and others in English, including children. 
  • Ability and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC, including but not limited to Confidentiality/Privacy Standards (HIPAA).  The individual is accountable for own performance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,

or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
