Partner with the best

You will collaborate with an experienced product architecture team, contributing to the design of the future of Akamai's security products. You will work on engineering and research tasks related to enhancements in products such as firewalls, DDoS protections, and more!

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:

• Understanding web security landscape.
• Running model optimization experiments
• Suggesting and optimizing data streams, algorithms and approaches used for attack detection and mitigation
• Determining practical constraints on the ML processes and heuristics running in Akamai cloud
• Assessing and analyze web traffic and attack patterns
• Developing software tools to support AI/ML production system monitoring and prediction evaluations.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related major and graduating after December 2026
• Have experience with Unix/Linux command-line
• Have hands-on knowledge on Python or Java, as well as Shell scripting
• Be a self-starter with a curious mindset
• Have knowledge of statistics, coursework in ML or related fields, regular expressions, Spark, and MLFlow

Work in a way that works for you

Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).
