How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring professional in the field of Occupational Health Safety Environmental (HSE) to gain valuable industry experience and skills working alongside such professionals inside a world leading chemical manufacturing company which supplies gases, technologies and services for industry and healthcare.

The Safety and Compliance/HSE Intern will help with the implementation and execution of the safety management program requirements. This involves both administrative and field tasks per established Airgas requirements, Industry practices, procedures, and Regulatory obligations. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and health for managing aspects of our worksites, branches, plants, offices, retail stores and field technicians in the Great Lakes region of operations.

In particular, you will:

  • Help implement, or even develop, revise, and improve Safety/EHS programs, procedures, and compliance documentation.

  • Assist in building and updating training materials for various Safety/EHS programs.

  • Contribute with Safety Managers in conducting site safety inspections and contribute to identifying process improvements.

  • Provide administrative and project-based support to the Safety/EHS team.

  • Collaborate with Plant managers across the region on EHS-related initiatives.

  • Spend time at site locations observing processes and supporting Safety/EHS engagements.

  • Perform other suitable and in scope projects and duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated interest/experience in Safety/HSE application and training.

  • Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, and general EHS regulatory concepts.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety; Safety or Safety Management, or Environmental Sciences, or Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university or college.

  • Demonstrated interest/experience in Safety/HSE application and training.

  • Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, and general EHS regulatory concepts.

  • Knowledge of standardized HSE Management System requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to lead and function within team environments.

  • Professional communication skills (verbal and written); Astute problem solving skills and administrative accuracy.

  • Proficiency in time management and organization skills; ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work independently.

  • Onsite work environment.
