About this role

Air Liquide Europe Business Services (ALEBS) was created in 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal with the mandate to provide financial services for Air Liquide European entities. In the space of 4 years, it has expanded to over 400 employees based in 3 office locations: Lisbon, Tomar and Guarda. The geographical scope was extended to include, besides the European affiliates also entities located in Africa, Middle-East and India, and the operational scope was extended and includes today not just Finance, but also Human Resources.

Air Liquide's GBS Center comprises a dedicated unit (including people, processes and technologies) that is structured as a centralized point of service focused on defined business functions.

Air Liquide's business services workforce is a dedicated team of people who provide services that have previously been found in more than one part of the organization or group; thus, the funding and resourcing of the service is shared and the providing department effectively becomes an internal service provider.

Role Overview:
The HR Director will lead and manage all local human resources functions for our GBS organization in Portugal.
This role is critical for navigating rapid growth, ensuring our HR strategies, policies and programs, always in alignment with the Air Liquide Group HR, GBS Operations and Centers of Excellence.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner to the management team, responsible for building the foundational HR infrastructure needed to support a large, high-performing and expanding team.


 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & People Strategy: Develop and execute HR strategies that not only address current priorities but also anticipate and accommodate future growth. Advise senior leadership on talent management, organizational design and change management during periods of expansion.

Talent Acquisition & Scalability: Oversee all aspects of the talent lifecycle, with a primary focus on talent acquisition and retention engine to support high-volume hiring demands. Implement streamlined, scalable onboarding processes to ensure new hires are integrated efficiently.

Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolving conflicts. Proactively develop and implement engagement strategies to maintain a cohesive and positive culture as the team grows and evolves.

Compensation and Benefits: Collaborate with the TR CoE to implement and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs. Ensure regular benchmarking of  compensation to ensure that we continue to attract and retain top talent in a dynamic market.

Training and Development: Create and implement training and upskilling programs to enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities. Implement succession plans and talent pipelines to ensure a steady supply of internal leaders.

Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a growing team of HR professionals, delegating responsibilities and developing their expertise to effectively support a large organization.



 

Are you a MATCH?


 

  • Education: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; Master's degree preferred

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a shared services environment

    • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices, with a focus on building scalable HR processes

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to build credible partnerships with business partners, employees and larger HR community of the Group

    • Prior experience in a highly matrixed and multi national organization is desirable

    • Strong ability to inspire, motivate and develop diverse teams

    • Adept at addressing challenges with innovative solutions

    • Organized and managing priorities 

    • Adaptation & decision making

    • Fluency in English and Portuguese required
