About the Role

Governance of Jobs, Job Scheduling, Continuous Improvement, Monitoring production dashboards, Deployment and Promotions

Position Objective:

Governance of Jobs

  • Manages the change control process to production with strict adherence to all current controls in both Production and UAT batch processing cycles.  
  • Monitor and ensure all jobs are run accordingly, timely and within the specified approved window.
  • Create and amend job sheets for DC Operators to execute
  • Ensure DC operators follow the sequence in the job sheets strictly

Job Scheduling

  • Analyzes all incoming jobs and tasks and fits into the schedule appropriately without affecting or jeopardizing existing jobs and the schedule
  • Ensure the timely processing of batch jobs and results are verified by relevant stakeholders
  • Provide feedback to relevant stakeholders on long running jobs
  • Coordinate efforts with relevant support teams to rectify failed or long running jobs

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously find ways to improve and optimize methodologies, procedures, workflows, and processes in use today
  • Actively provide suggestions to relevant stakeholders on areas for improvement

ONLINE Hours & Availability

  • Contribute to ONLINE’s availability during business hours by providing regular status updates on system health.
  • Support month-end and year-end hyper care by being extra vigilant on monitoring dashboards

Monitoring - TECH Operations Centre Dashboards

  • Monitor and report alerts proactively to the respective SME’s
  • Raise incidents as and when required
  • Follow-up on persisting alerts with respective support teams
  • Escalate as and when required to senior management when there is lack of urgency exhibited by the respective support team or SME.

Deployment & Promotions

  • Ensure all request for deployments have been tested in UAT prior to deployment in production
  • Ensure all requests are approved via AIA Malaysia’s change approval process.
  • Execute deployments and promotions as per the requirements from the relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify areas to automate and work with the relevant teams to automate the deployment or promotion.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1) Ensure Operational efficiency. (40%)

  • Daily review with Supervisor for batch updates and new implementation.
  • Careful preparation of daily job processing to prevent impact to batch processing.
  • Review daily jobsheets with Supervisor and DC Operators
  • Continuous monitoring and tracking of batch production cycle processing to ensure proper prioritization of jobs.
  • Recover batch operational problems promptly for quick escalation and rectification.
  • Monitor and ensure jobs submitted do not affect online hours.

2) Site Reliability (30%)

  • Monitors and help stabilize services in production
  • Sets and maintains an acceptable performance and availability threshold
  • Continuously analyses tasks and investigates ways to automate it.
  • Writes scripts that automates repetitive tasks
  • Automate tasks/jobs using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Ansible Tower and Terraform.
  • Supports to introduce self-healing of jobs and services that fail or terminate abnormally.

3) Internal systems. (20%)

  • Coordinate application migration process through non-Production and Production environments according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure complete and compliant request and documentation and approval processes are performed for all changes.

4) Other responsibilities (10%)

  • Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by immediate superiors in order to meet business requirements.
  • Supports the service management team with incident coordination and resolution efforts.

Financial and Non-Financial Measures:

  • Achievement of zero human errors.
  • Achieve SLA agreed upon.
  • Audit report

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Business etc.
  • Good command of job control language (JCL).
  • Has knowledge and working experience using the latest technology tools STACK such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Ansible Tower, Terraform and familiarity with Azure Web Portal.
  • Able to use project and issue tracking tools such JIRA or Azure Board.
  • Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal communications and listening skills.
  • Proactive and a problem solver.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong background and work experience of at least 5+ years in Data Centre computer operations.
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Able to coordinate tasks involving multiple parties
  • Posses and exhibits a solution-oriented mindset
  • Able to work shift
