Overview

 

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

 

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for performing a number of clinical duties for the hospital’s employees through a program that includes coordination of annual required physicals and tests for all employees, administration and reading of PPD - Tuberculin Skin Testing, provides and documents OSHA required Fit Testing, administers immunizations/inoculations to prevent spread of communicable diseases (e.g., Influenza, Hepatitis B, etc.), assists employees who become ill or are injured at work by interfacing with Human Resources and facility directors, monitors employee health to protect patients and employees, develops recommendations and work restrictions for personnel with infectious diseases who are involved in patient care, may provide first aid or act as liaison with emergency department in the provision of first aid and other types of care for employees who become ill or are injured while on duty.

 

Ensures appropriate, timely, accurate, understandable and professional information and services are provided to employees and all customers of the Employee Health Department. The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for work productivity and quality is of the highest level and fully responsive to the needs of the department, hospital and its customers. Maintains Employee Health files, makes appointments for employees, and reports to Human Resources Director. The Employee Health Nurse acts within the scope of his/her responsibilities and professional nursing practice standards to deliver service.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience

  • At least two to three years experience in an acute care facility preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred
  • Must be well organized, able to operate with minimal direction, adhere to time-lines, and follow-through on assigned duties.
  • Previous experience administering and reading of PPD, Tuberculin Skin Testing.
  • Experience in OSHA required Fit Testing and documentation preferred
  • Experience in Influenza, Hepatitis B vaccinations preferred
  • Experience with data entry via Word, Excel preferred preferred

 

Licenses/Certifications: - Current CA license as Licensed Vocational Nurse and BLS Certification required.
