What’s involved in this role: 

We are looking for a Project Control Officer-Value Realization Office in Eden Prairie, MN.

The Project Control Officer (PCO) plays a pivotal role in supporting the Value Realization Office by overseeing the governance, performance, and strategic alignment of a defined portfolio of initiatives. This role ensures that projects within the portfolio are delivering expected outcomes, remain aligned with business objectives, and adhere to enterprise standards. The PCO provides critical insights and control mechanisms to enable informed decision-making at the portfolio level.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio Governance & Oversight

  • Monitor adherence to VRO governance frameworks, including stage-gate processes, benefit realization tracking, and strategic alignment.

  • Ensure consistent application of project management standards across the portfolio.

  • Support portfolio-level risk, issue, and dependency management, including escalation protocols.

Financial & Resource Control

  • Oversee financial tracking across the portfolio, including development and maintenance of cost & budget baselines + forecasts as well as variance analysis.

  • Track commitments, expenditures & associated changes to ensure real-time visibility of project and portfolio financial performance.

  • Support validation of vendor invoices and change orders against contracts and progress.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Resource Management teams to ensure alignment of funding and capacity with strategic priorities.

Performance & Value Tracking

  • Support monthly CAPEX reporting: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), benefits realization metrics, and delivery milestones.

  • Maintain portfolio dashboards and executive-level reporting tools to provide visibility into progress, risks, and value delivery.

  • Analyze trends across projects to identify systemic issues or opportunities for improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as a strategic liaison between project teams, business units, and executive stakeholders.

  • Facilitate portfolio review meetings, steering committees, and governance forums.

  • Support change management and communication strategies related to portfolio initiatives.

Continuous Improvement & Enablement

  • Contribute to the evolution of VRO methodologies, tools, and templates.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to project managers on governance expectations and value realization practices.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance portfolio delivery effectiveness.

What you need to join our team:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in project governance (controls and cost management), portfolio management, or PMO roles is required.

  • Experience working in a Strategic Enterprise PMO is an asset

  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

  • PMP, PgMP, or Portfolio Management certification is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of earned value management, project controls systems, strategic planning, and enterprise project governance is required.

  • Proficiency in portfolio management tools (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, MS Project, Clarity, or similar) is required.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills required.
