We’re seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our electrical engineering team in the APAC region. This role can be based out of our offices in Braeside (Melbourne), Wacol (Brisbane) or Applecross (Perth) and offers hybrid working.

A strong pipeline of projects across the APAC region, including hybrid and complex projects, has promoted significant team growth over the past 12 months. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impact the energy transition through innovative solutions in renewable energy and power generation.

You will join an established engineering team with diverse expertise, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Control Systems. You will remain actively involved in design in a very a hands way and be highly involved in mentoring and developing others.

What you’ll do:  

  • Guide and develop the electrical engineering team, ensuring alignment with project goals and company standards.

  • Be part of the detailed design and implementation of electrical systems for mining and power generation projects, ensuring compliance with Australian standards.

  • Manage electrical engineering aspects of projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with other disciplines and stakeholders.

  • Utilise tools like PowerFactory and CDEGS to model and optimise electrical systems, ensuring robust performance.

  • Implement safety standards and risk management practices to ensure all designs and installations are secure and compliant.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, delivering technical presentations and reports.

You’ll have the following skills and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master’s degree or Chartered Professional Engineer certification is preferred.

  • Ideally a minimum of 10 years in electrical design for mining and power generation, with a strong understanding of Australian standards.

  • Have a passion for mentoring and developing others.

  • A leadership by example mindset - remaining hands on and actively involved in design rather than directing others.

  • Proficiency in HV substation design, earthing studies, and simulation tools like PowerFactory and CDEGS.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage team dynamics and stakeholder expectations.

  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with clients and stakeholders.
