The Sales Manager will manage the Energy markets and accounts to promote, specify and sell Performance Chemicals products, primarily to the Oil & Gas Environment with significant focus on developing the Alternative Energy Markets as they evolve in North America. This position takes direction from the Director of Sales and Market Management  in unison with  the Senior Director of Business to further enhance the profitability of the business.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and meets annual sales budget from existing, targeted, and prospective accounts through direct, written, and verbal sales contact. Minimum sales revenue of $10 million.
  • Responsible for overall sales of the Performance Chemicals product lines.
  • Negotiate both short and long-term contracts involving setting and agreeing on various critical elements including pricing structures, payment terms, order volumes, product grades, quantities to be purchased and released as well as  packaging and shipping details.
  • Creates and implements rebate programs to protect and maintain the company's market share in a competitive environment. 
  • Manages cost center budget is to effectively maintain relationships with customers through planned sales calls, telephone and written contact. Consistently maintains a professional demeanor and appearance, reinforcing our role as a quality and reliable supplier and business partner.

  • Clearly communicates to the business unit an understanding of customer markets and business trends, highlighting how these factors impact AGC Chemicals. Provides product development feedback to the management team by articulating customer and market needs, and benchmarks our quality against competitive offerings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or other technical field with a background. A Business degree may also be considered. 
  • 7-10 years’ experience in fluoropolymers or related industry. Proven record of accomplishment with prior sales or customer facing technical experience is required.(Energy related experience (Oil & Gas, Alternative Energy, Power Generation, Power Storage, Power Transmission).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Able to work independently and function within a matrix styled management philosophy.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, CRM, and other ERP systems 
  • Frequent overnight travel required for managing territory (50%)


Physical Requirements:

  • Being stationary for long periods of time working on reports and presentations.
  • Frequent driving to visit clients. Spending considerable time in a car. 
  • Work involves the operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. 
  • May need to lift and carry sales materials or samples, usually not exceeding 15 lbs.
  • Ability to adapt to different environments.
  • May need to work outside of standard business hours to accommodate client meetings or deadlines. 
  • Frequent overnight travel required (50%). The majority of travel is to Houston, TX area.
