The Team Leader is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient service interruption restoration, operations, maintenance and/or construction of the AES Ohio Electric Distribution systems.  Provides supervision, leadership, and training to others through day-to-day contact.  Provides technical advice, training, and counsel for difficult operational situations.  Prioritizes, directs, monitors, and evaluates performance of direct reports within the reporting organization.  Prepares, controls, and administers work schedules and financial budgets to achieve maximum business results relating to overall safety, performance, cost efficiency, and system reliability.  

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the implementation of daily operating plans, maintains current electrical system status and implements actions to compensate for system disturbances.

  • Provides customer service internally and externally.

  • Supervises company and contractor technical personnel involved with real-time implementation of actions related to power system reliability.

  • Responsible for new construction, maintenance and emergency response

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with other areas/departments to improve job efficiencies and reduce operating costs by researching “Best Practices” and implementing new technologies and processes.

Basic Requirements

  • Post secondary, vocational or technical training

  • A 4-year degree is preferred but equivalent experience is accepted

  • Ability to work with people, and have knowledge of industry practices relating to safe electric utility distribution system operations and the electric service restoration process

  • Good problem solving and resource management skills

  • Intermediate computer skills.

  • Ability to respond as needed including nights and weekends.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior supervisory experience leading bargaining unit staff

  • Prior experience in line field operations is a plus

  • Knowledge of the job functions of a Trouble Technician, Line Technician, Substation Inspector, Service Dispatcher, Transmission System Operators, and Line Patrol Technician during normal and emergency conditions

  • Microsoft Office Suite
