Design Engineering Intern

Aerothreads is a fast-growing company in the Aerospace industry that specializes in the design, fabrication, and installation of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets. We are looking for summer interns who are excited about the aerospace and/or manufacturing industry that are motivated to work hard and learn over a 12 week program in Riverdale, MD. The Design Engineering Intern will support the design team in the creation of 3D models and flat patterns for MLI blankets.

Required Education, Skills, and Abilities:

• High school diploma and at least two years progress towards a bachelor’s degree (rising Junior) in  Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or related degree.
• Understanding and working familiarity with Creo CAD software (or industry equivalent such as SolidWorks) is a plus.
• Interest in learning aerospace manufacturing industry.
• Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support project team in the development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.
• Participate in technical design reviews by taking detailed meeting minutes and creating action items for the team.
• Assist team with template scanning and organization. 
• Develop and maintain engineering procedure documents.
• Tasks will include exposure to Creo CAD software.

Aerothreads Internship Program:

• Paid $15/hour
• 12 weeks June - August
• Up to 40 hours per week - in person
• Learning environment with exposure to multiple departments
