Job Summary:

Assists in the maintenance of grounds, surrounding areas and off-site campuses, may include but not limited to lawn care, pruning, weed abatement, landscaping, snow removal and irrigation installation and repairs. Maintains the in-house plants and responsible for tree trimming, weeding, and other areas necessary for a beautiful campus environment. May also supervise and train new and apprentice Grounds Associates.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of the grounds keeping equipment, water fountains, and sprinkler systems: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Qualified Applicator (chemical) License (PAPA) or Pest Control Applicators (PCA) License: Preferred
  • Certificate in horticulture or landscape field: Preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Mows, edges and aerates the lawns and keeps grass well manicured. Weeds the garden and prunes trees and shrubs. Trims plants and maintains high aesthetic appeal of the outdoor spaces.
  • Assists in snow removal and sanding operations of sidewalks and parking lots. Maintains and clears debris from sidewalks, roofs, entrances and parking lots. Maintains the driveways clean of leaves and undertakes pressure cleaning to keep them clean. Maintains the pleasing aesthetic aspects of ponds and fountains. Maintains and cleans outdoor seating areas and furniture.
  • Sprays and fertilizes according to proper application of herbicides.
  • Maintains irrigating/programming controllers, replacing heads, valves and underground pipe.
  • Makes daily inspection of grounds.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
