Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring Sr. Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

  • Firmware and test development for embedded systems;
  • Test bench setup & development;
  • Software Programming and scripting experience (Python, Bash, or C/C++) in Windows and Linux operating systems;
  • PC/server environment H/W and S/W setup administration;
  • Embedded protocols: I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe, TCP, or IP;
  • Microcontroller architecture (ARM or x86) and embedded system build tool; and
  • Version control and CI/CD systems like Git or Jenkins.
