THE ROLE:

In this leadership role within the Software Engineering team, the Senior Manager will leverage their strong understanding of the general software development life cycle and silicon engineering process, from concept to production, to lead an experienced team of software program managers. The team is responsible for the planning and execution of all the software activities and deliverables into a cross-disciplined Core Team. They deliver the next generation of Ryzen products while working with AMD Leadership and in close collaboration with key customers and software ecosystem partners.

 

 

THE PERSON:

The Senior Manager is a strategic leader with exceptional people management skills and a proven track record of building high performance teams. The ideal candidate will encourage their team to find effective solutions to complex problems and drive continuous improvements. The Sr. Manager will also demonstrate strong program management and organizational skills. They should have a technical understanding of the software development lifecycle and silicon development, be a technical leader and innovator, and be able to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed engineering core teams.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage an experienced team of Software Program Managers leading all SW development activities for new Ryzen products development. The candidate will plan out and drive the cross-functional execution of various engineering functions to enable best in class customer solutions
  • Engages with technical leadership teams to understand and document program scope, establish integrated schedules, assess, and manage program progress and risk, and create resource and budget plans
  • Represents the Software Engineering organization in corporate and executive planning and execution forums
  • Work with the Core Leadership team (Chief Engineer, Business Unit leads), Product Architects, and relevant team members to ensure compliance to customer gate checklists
  • Must be well-organized, technically oriented, and a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and coordinate the activities of geographically distributed technical teams
  • Act as the “Voice of the Customer” while working with internal teams

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Multiple years of people management experience and building high performance teams; strong leadership skills and track record of building strong teams
  • Multiple years of large and complex project & program management experience in dynamic and competitive industry with focus on product development (New Product Introduction lifecycle); excellent analytical, project planning, and management skills; proven ability to deliver large cross-functional strategic initiatives
  • Extensive experience with hardware/software and customer engineering experience with exposure to Device Drivers, Firmware, Graphics technology, SOC product development and/or AI features — or transferrable experience/skills; experience in product development with hardware platforms and related software ecosystem
  • Able to influence horizontally across multiple internal functional organizations
  • Energized by working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment
  • Quickly adapt to dynamic business and technical requirements and grasp new concepts quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills at Director and above level
  • Business savvy: ability to think strategically and make intelligent technical vs business trade-off recommendations

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • PMP certification
