THE ROLE:

AMD’s Computing & Graphic group is responsible for advanced CPU, GPU and gaming platforms such as XBOX, PlayStation, and Steam Deck. As a Post-Silicon Power and Performance Staff Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring our custom silicon products meet power targets and are optimized for customer use cases. You will interact with global architecture, firmware, driver, and other teams to develop testplans for new product features, execute studies in a lab environment, and analyze data to validate that the product meets specifications.

 

This position is based in Penang collaborating closely with Austin and Shanghai teams.

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate will have experience in power or performance attainment of features of CPU, GPU, or APUs. This person should thrive in a matrixed environment spanning multiple countries and time zones.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Own power / performance characterization for selected SoC features
  • Drive cross-site debug with Austin, Penang, and Shanghai teams
  • Mentor junior engineers in lab setup, analysis workflows, and correlation methods
  • Deliver insights that influence firmware and architecture decisions
  • Develop test plans in collaboration with architects, firmware, and IP-specific engineering teams to ensure products meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Set up and debug systems under test.
  • Deliver repeatable results across multiple silicon revisions by developing automated test procedures.
  • Produce clear data analysis reports with actionable insights for FW and Arch.
  • Improve correlation between pre‑silicon projections and measured post‑silicon results.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience validating power or performance features of CPUs, GPUs, or APUs using automated testflow execution.
  • Knowledgeable in the application of graphics, core, and gaming-focused workloads.
  • In-depth knowledge of data acquisition and thermal equipment including accuracy and use in automation.
  • Experience debugging complex power management or performance-related attainment issues while interacting with cross-site teams.
  • Experience developing automated test procedures.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed, and multi-site technical organization.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
