The Opportunity

Adobe Research is seeking a research scientist who is a new or upcoming PhD graduate in Computer Science or a related field, with expertise in AI, machine learning, algorithms, and control / decision making. You will have expertise in the field, as evidenced by peer-reviewed academic publication, combined with hands-on research experience. As a research scientist at Adobe, you will be joining a dynamic team of machine learning, deep learning, and computer systems researchers to build the future of digital experiences. You will have the opportunity to develop creative ideas suitable for academic publication, to mentor interns, and to participate in our university collaboration program. You will also work with product teams to implement those ideas as advanced features in Adobe's world-class products, thereby reaching millions of people worldwide. 

What you'll do

  • Initiate the design, development, execution, and implementation of technology research projects. Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
  • Plan and execute applied research.
  • Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
  • May participate in development of patent applications. May coordinate inter-departmental activities and research efforts. 

What you'll need to succeed

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • Strong peer-reviewed publication track record 
  • Solid programming skills, including Python, PyTorch, C++ 
  • Desire to do world-class publishable research and develop advanced features for Adobe's agentic research and analytics products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $142,700 -- $270,950 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. In California, the pay range for this position is $187,100 - $270,950

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.  Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
