Alleima wants to invite you to apply for assignments as a Summer Technologist. Suppose you are studying at a university either for a bachelor’s or master’s degree and are interested in the exciting interaction between technology and people. The task is to carry out advanced material investigations and data analyses. 

Your role 

As one of the summer technologists with us, together with a small team, you will be responsible for a part of one of our research projects which is aimed at optimizing our alloy design and production route. The team will support you in the project so that you can successfully complete your tasks over the summer.

The assignment is to carry out microstructure analysis, which means that you will get hands on experience operating a SEM, alongside various image analysis techniques. You will then need to verify your findings against thermodynamic modelling that you will also perform. In addition to varied and educational work, you will also take part in exciting lectures and study visits. 

Your Profile 

Your personality is important; we see that you are curious, detail-oriented and self-sufficient while being able to work in a group and ask for help when needed. You will learn the skills required for the project over the summer, just bring your interest in learning new things. Your great interest in technology and your willingness to constantly develop in the field are qualities that make you perfect for this paid internship. 

Since the work as a summer technologist can mean that you collaborate with other units, we prefer that you have good oral and written skills in both Swedish and English. We want you to study metallurgy, materials technology, mechanical engineering, technical physics, or similar and have progressed 3-4 years in your education or started your master's degree. During your studies you have taken courses in materials design, and it is an advantage to have knowledge about Matlab and Thermo-Calc. 

Extent 

The summer technology period covers 8 weeks and can begin as soon as the studies are finished for the summer. 

The location is Sandviken. We at Alleima can help with accommodation in Sandviken during this time that you work as a summer technologist, the selection will take place continuously during the application period.
