Position Summary: The Mammographer operates complex equipment to produce high quality mammograms, which comply with the American College of Radiology Standards. This individual collaborates with the Radiologist, the manager, and the staff in developing, implementing and evaluating department procedures and protocols. This position has direct patient care, access to confidential patient information and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with the Radiologist, the manager, and the staff. This individual works under the direct supervision of the Radiology Manager.
Minimum Qualifications Required Educational Degree: Graduate of an Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology Major/Area of Concentration: Radiologic Technology Preferred Education: Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: RRT - Registered Radiologic Technologist with Current Ohio License.
Mammography registry certificate required within 18 months of hire. BLS - Basic Life Support. De-escalation training within 6 months.
Preferred Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: Required Experience: 1-2 years diagnostic Radiology.
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years mammography
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of breast anatomy and mammographic positioning techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide compassionate care to patients, particularly in sensitive or stressful situations.
Attention to detail and commitment to image quality.
Proficient with PACS and digital imaging equipment.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team. Job Specific Essential Functions
Perform high-quality mammographic exams, including screening, diagnostic, needle localizations and stereotactic procedures. Perform bone density exams.
Operate and maintain mammography equipment (2D and/or 3D/tomosynthesis systems).
Follow established protocols for positioning, exposure, and image quality.
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and privacy.
Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of imaging procedures performed.
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care.
Adhere to infection control and radiation safety standards at all times.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., ACR, MQSA, HIPAA).
Report equipment malfunctions and assist in scheduling maintenance as needed.
