Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the development of a new IP. 

Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining.  

As a member of the Technical Art department, you’ll put your amazing skills to work solving a wide range of challenges, prototyping and developing content, tools and workflows, enabling experimentation and iteration while optimizing storage and performance.

As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.  

You’ll help us by…  

  • Being a bridge between engineers, content creators and production. To help develop, test, and teach new tools and technologies.
  • Supporting and improving workflows for our art team, in one or more areas of content creation, for example modelling, look dev (shaders, materials, texturing), rigging, animation, visual effects, lighting, and UI. 
  • Maintain and improve multiple aspects of technical asset production: re-use, content density, performance, storage/memory requirements, etc. 
  • Anticipating challenges and risks and implementing innovative and preventative solutions. 

You’re awesome because you have…  

  • 8+ years of professional experience in the games industry working in technical art or closely related areas.
  • Experience developing tools and pipelines for game content production.
  • Experience with DCC tools (Maya, Blender, etc.)
  • Some understanding of scripting languages like Python, MEL, VEX, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of memory and performance impact from a content creation perspective.  
  • Experience writing and/or debugging shaders. 
  • Understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems and techniques.  
  • In-depth understanding of game engines, pipelines, and processes. 
  • Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude. 
  • Organization methods and the capability to meet agreed timelines. 

Bonus points for…  

  • Experience working on AAA titles. Special preference for shipped titles with high visual fidelity and/or large content variety.
  • Proven leadership or managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of Niagara (Unreal) or VFX Graph (Unity). 
  • Experience with Houdini or other procedural or simulation software.
  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Experience with OpenUSD, MaterialX and similar technologies.
  • Experience working with consoles.
  • Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles.
