Job Title:

Senior Concept Artist

Requisition ID:

R026616

Job Description:

Concept Artist (Sr or above)

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Concept Artist (Sr or above) to join the development of a new IP.

As a member of the Art department, you’ll create memorable designs and art for an array of weapons.

You’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

You’ll help us by…

  • Creating concept art for all stages of production — including early character and creature ideation, anatomical explorations, and final marketing illustrations. Deliver a range of work from loose sketches and in-game texture callouts to polished key art, storyboards, gameplay paint-overs, and marketing assets.
  • Producing creature, character, prop, and environment designs that maintain consistent art quality aligned with the project’s Art Direction pillars. Ensure that creature designs embody both the narrative and gameplay tone, balancing realism, imagination, and function.
  • Collaborating with Narrative and Gameplay teams to pitch ideas and strengthen world building from an Art perspective. Communicating intent and thought process with concept designs and motivate how they fit in with the world.
  • Learning about and playing the game, making sure concept designs are informed and well-researched.
  • Researching subject matter relating to objectives to ensure an authentic experience with real-world connections.

You're awesome because you have...

  • 8+ years of experience in the field of Concept Art for games and/or movies
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your attention to detail, abilities to illustrate and design concept artworks and present your results with believable lighting and polished rendering quality
  • Knowledge of 3d modeling or sculpting applications like Blender, Maya, Zbrush or equivalent
  • A strong foundation in traditional art, color theory, composition, perspective, anatomy, and lighting
  • A great understanding of visual design principles and concept art pipeline from ideation stage to the final rendered image.
  • Expertise in digital illustration software such as Photoshop
  • Understand the limitations of the game development pipeline.
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple departments and different personalities, proactive mindset towards resolving challenges.
  • An ability to take direction and apply feedback from team members as well as sharing your own ideas to help improve overall output from the art team.

Bonus Points for...

  • Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, gameplay programming, or VFX — especially where it enhances how characters and creatures interact with the world and the player.
  • Have shipped 1 or more AAA games
  • Major recognition in your field of work
  • Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, programming, etc.
