Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a strategic Global Research and Consumer Insights Manager to drive understanding of player motivations, preferences, commercial dynamics, and the “why” behind consumer behavior. This role is pivotal in delivering data-informed guidance that shapes product, marketing, and development decisions through actionable research and deep audience insights. This role will be the primary consumer insights lead globally for an unannounced new game, and will reports to our Senior Manager, Global Research and Consumer Insights and will be based in Irvine, California (hybrid).

Responsibilities

  • Lead End-to-End Research Initiatives: Design, execute, and analyze custom primary research studies, leveraging both external agencies and in-house resources. Ensure research rigor and relevance from methodology design through final reporting.
  • Stakeholder and Agency Management: Partner with leaders across teams such as product management, game development, and marketing to develop actionable research studies that address strategic questions, ultimately driving data-informed decision-making across the company.  Manage all stakeholder and market research agency relationships related to an unannounced game as the primary consumer insights lead.
  • Insightful Storytelling: Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data (surveys, focus groups, etc.) into clear, actionable recommendations. Present findings to a diverse set of stakeholders, tailoring narratives to drive understanding and impact decision-making.
  • Audience Segmentation and Profiling: Deeply analyze audience segments, uncovering motivations, psychographics, and preferences to inform product planning, marketing strategies, and future development direction.
  • Research Roadmap Management: Own the pipeline of consumer insights studies, anticipating stakeholder needs and adapting quickly to new requests. Ensure research efforts are aligned with business priorities and evolving opportunities.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on the target audience for an unannounced game, providing timely answers and insights sourced from a variety of research methods and historical data.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience in consumer/market research and insights, ideally focused on entertainment, gaming, consumer technology, or media, either on the client-side or at a market research agency.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing custom market/consumer research projects in gaming or related industries.
  • Strong quantitative skills and analytical mind, adept at uncovering actionable insights and stories within the data.
  • Ability to tell a compelling story with data by communicating insights (not just data) to executives.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Pluses

  • Advanced degree in psychology, statistics, economics, business, or a related quantitative field.
  • Passion for video games and understanding of the video game industry.
  • Experience with survey software packages (e.g. Qualtrics, Sawtooth) and visualization packages.
  • Foreign language proficiency.
  • Experience conducting consumer research in Asia.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $87,480.00 - $161,910.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
