Job Summary
The Nurse Manager manages the operation of the nursing department, ensuring the highest quality care is provided to the members. Duties involve hiring, scheduling, approval of overtime, supervising, directing personnel, evaluating staff, recommending pay increases, training nursing staff and participating in related medical committees. The Nurse Manager ensures that all work complies with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
Qualifications
- RN License, CPR Certification, and valid malpractice insurance policy.
- Registered with the applicable state examining board.
- At least 21 years of age.
- At least two-years full-time equivalent experience in a geriatric setting or adults with special needs preferred.
- Prior experience working seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
- Strong communication and engaging interpersonal skills.
- Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical assistance to members.
- Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state-specific regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Staffs, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates nursing and day care staff, ensuring that nursing care is provided according to individual plan of care, physician's orders and emergent needs.
Ensures the accuracy and completeness of medical record documentation.
- Performs member assessments and develops and implements medical plan of care. Ensures that dietary parameters are met and coordinates with other internal and external ancillary services (i.e.: Pharmacy, Dental, Rehabilitation, Physical/Speech/Occupational Therapy, Audiology, DME) to ensure quality member care. Communicates with physicians to provide follow up care.
- Establishes and schedules staff committees for Pharmacy and Infection Control and participates on Safety and Quality Assurance Committees.
- Ensures that medical and nursing services are coordinated with family care and other therapeutic services and participates in individualized inter-disciplinary care plan conferences.
- Maintains nursing station, ensuring that stock medications and emergency items are in order.
- Provides orientation, health education and instruction to staff. Promotes member and family health through education, screening and monitoring activities.
- Participates in community outreach programs, including communication with social service agencies and discharge planners.
- Performs duties of Registered Nurse as needed.
- May perform duties of Center Administrator as needed.
- Provides active assistance with members as needed.
- Participates in continuing nursing education.
- Nurse Manager will be food service supervisor and shall be present in center during preparation & serving of food.
