Position: Video Editor (Long-form to Short-form Clips)

About the Role:

We are looking for a video editor to take long-form content (primarily podcasts and similar recordings) and turn it into engaging short-form clips for social media. Initial focus is on producing strong “proof of work” from existing raw footage, with the potential to expand the scope if the collaboration goes well.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clip Creation:

• Review long-form content (e.g., podcast episodes, long videos) and identify the most engaging segments.
• Edit these segments into short-form clips for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn.
• Ensure clips are concise, hook quickly, and retain viewer attention.

2. Editing & Post-Production:

• Add captions, simple motion graphics, and basic visual enhancements as needed.
• Perform basic audio cleanup (noise reduction, levelling, etc.).
• Format and export videos in multiple aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) as required.

3. Content Quality & Consistency

• Maintain a cohesive style across clips that aligns with the client’s tone and evolving brand identity.
• Implement feedback to refine style, pacing, and overall quality.
• Deliver an initial “proof of work” batch of clips from the provided raw footage.

4. Collaboration & Communication:

• Take clear direction on priorities, clip volume, and creative adjustments.
• Communicate timelines, capacity, and any blockers proactively.
• Share work-in-progress and incorporate feedback efficiently.

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience editing short-form social content from long-form video (portfolio or samples required).
• Proficiency with at least one major editing tool (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, etc.).

Ability to:

• Quickly identify hooks and compelling moments in long-form conversations.
• Add captions and on-screen text/graphics optimized for social platforms.
• Edit for social-first consumption (strong hooks, pacing, and retention).
• Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience specifically with podcast-to-clip workflows.
• Familiarity with short-form content trends on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
• Basic understanding of how editing choices influence performance metrics (views, retention, engagement)
