Location: Middletown, NY
Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (40hrs)

OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

The Pre-Vocational Supervisor assists the Team Leader:

In establishing and assuring that the daily program structure and service delivery are met with regard to regulatory standards

Ensure all staff provide pre-employment and/or job readiness activities specified in individuals’ current Life Plan and Staff Action Plan

Ensure services are habilitative and will prepare the individuals for paid employment or meaningful community activities that enable an individual to attain the highest level of community engagement in the most integrated setting with the ultimate goal of employment.  

Additional responsibilities and qualities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assure the accurate completion of all program documentation requirements according to billing/regulatory standards and time frames.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Responsible for representation at Life Plan meetings and submission of Staff Action Plans.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple responsibilities.
  • Develop relationships with businesses in the community to create connections and opportunities for pre-voc, volunteer and employment for individuals.
  • Lead growth of department and responsible for timely submission of billing.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve independently and with a team.
  • Provide supervision of Pre-Voc staff.
  • Lead staff performance evaluations in alignment with DSP Core Competencies and Culture Playbook.
  • Possess excellent crisis intervention skills and the ability to make decisions to assure that necessary safeguards are in place for each individual served.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: 
 
Key Responsibilities:  Agency has an uncompromising commitment to quality and integrity—employees are expected to perform their duties and responsibilities to our high standard of quality.  
Program Management—Ensures that the program is operating effectively and required activities are being conducted; ensures that individual needs are being met; documents that the program follows state rules and guidelines; maintains individual files and records; reports facility and vehicle maintenance issues; responds to individual and program emergencies. 
Staff Management—Supervise the staff and lead their activities with the individuals. Schedules the staff to meet the needs of the program. Participates in the hiring process and recommends candidates for hire. Provides coaching and feedback, and completes staff performance agreements. Implements staff discipline as needed. Provides training on individuals and program activities and agency procedures and protocols and OPWDD regulations. Approves and audits staff timesheets.  
Advocacy—Assists individuals with achieving personal goals; works on behalf of individuals to overcome barriers; helps individuals participate in activities of their choice; respects individual’s personal beliefs, choices, and interests.  
Health Maintenance—Assist in promoting good health; communicates with members of the individual’s interdisciplinary team; provides First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care when needed.  
Personal Care—May assist individuals with their mobility including lifting them from a seated or lying down position, helping them walk and maintain stability.  
Living Skills Development—Assist with developing relationships connected to natural supports and records progress on skill development and achievement  
Behavior Development—Serves as role model and mentor, demonstrating the desired behaviors; and coaching individuals using approved techniques and strategies.  
Operational Support—Maintains cleanliness of program; drives company vehicle to transport individuals to their activities; completes tasks that are beyond the individual’s abilities; follows policies and procedures for handling money.  
Professional Behavior—Acts in a professional and visionary manner and communicates effectively with others; completes training programs; trains others as required and attends required meetings  
 
 
 QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skill as well as organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Passionate about the field and demonstrate alignment with the company vision.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of documentation regulatory requirements
  • Assess, identify and implement necessary training to support the development of the PreVoc staff.
  • Leading staff performance evaluations in alignment with DSP Core Competencies and Culture Playbook

  • A clean and valid driving record is required to maintain this position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:           
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field and 6 months experience in the field OR 
  • Associates Degree in related field with a minimum of 6 months experience in the field and 6 month’s supervisory experience in the field OR 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with the IDD population and 1 year of supervisory experience.
