Summary/objective

Responsible for leading and supervising preschool, elementary, and middle school children who participate in the tennis camp program. Must be able to commit to the summer camp season (June - August).


Requirements

Essential functions

  • Provide competent tennis instruction for all groups and levels of players
  • Supervise and interact with children to promote educationally and developmentally-stimulating programs and activities
  • Supervise and interact with children during classroom time, outdoor play, and transportation time
  • Follow state licensing standards for child care
  • Communicate with children using a style that builds relationships and promotes teamwork
  • Assist with junior development of competitive players and 10 and under tennis
  • Assist the Director with all club events, tournaments and USTA matches
  • Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness throughout the facility while providing outstanding customer service
  • Promote the safety and security of all participants at all times
  • Maintain a notable visual presence during work shifts
  • Communicate program policies and expectations members and/or guests to ensure a high level of safety and service at all times
  • Promote the safety and security of all children at all times
  • Communicate program policies and expectations to students and/or parents to ensure a high level of safety and service at all times
  • Supervise children by maintaining appropriate student-to-counselor ratios

Physical demands

  • Must be able to stand, move, walk, and bend for the duration of a shift
  • Must be able to physically respond in a quick manner in the event of an emergency
  • Must be able to fully participate in all indoor and outdoor activities
  • Must be able to work professionally and calmly in an environment which may have heightened noise and stress
  • Must be able to work in warm, humid, rainy or windy outdoor conditions
  • Must have ability and willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Required competencies, education, and experience

  • Must be able to commit to work the summer camp season (June - August)
  • Prior working experience and knowledge of state licensing standards highly desired
  • Prior experience with youth programming and/or summer camp programs highly desired
  • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep the club neat and clean

  • Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
  • Deliver five-star service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, and a pleasant demeanor at all times
