Job Summary

To drive the Team’s Research and Analysis objectives, with a primary focus on Country and Sovereign Risk Management for the organisation.

Job Description

  • Lead and drive the team’s Research and Analysis outputs. This includes providing Risk insights on key risk macro-economic themes, socio-political risk factors and other jurisdiction risk factors in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and other Emerging Markets. Also conduct Industry/sector analysis for various regions, and the wider global economy.

  • Drive the team’s Reporting objectives, that is: preparation of Risk Committee/Board packs, provide oversight of Absa Group’s country and sovereign portfolio.

  • Prepare Country and Sovereign Risk Rating reports for a host of countries (with a primary focus on SSA).

  • Alongside the preparation of Country Risk Reviews, develop and provide inputs into the team’s Risk Models, that is: country and sovereign risk rating models and other macroeconomic forecasting models.

  • Provide Risk support to the various Business teams – with a focus on providing deal (transaction) structuring advisory to mitigate country risks. Also assist in formulating risk-prudent strategies for the various markets that we operate in.

  • Conduct country visits and/or virtual meetings with multilateral organizations, governments and key clients across African countries.

  • Mentor junior members of the Country and Sovereign Risk team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies.
