The Plant Manager is responsible for coordinating, directing, leading, guiding, and managing areas of the plant consistent with company policies and procedures as well as with federal, state and local law. Will be accountable for the management and safety of employees, high quality products being produced, budgeting and the profitability of the facility. The Plant Manager develops processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, culture, customer relations, and productivity. This role has direct supervisory responsibility for all operations management and hourly team members with an expanded dotted line responsibility for a variety of support groups when department heads are not present (i.e., Sanitation, Shipping, Maintenance & Engineering). Will work closely with Human Resources and production teams in hire and train staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (agriculture, animal science or business) plus ten years of plant experience or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position, including supervisory experience. Well-developed management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a team of employees.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production and management personnel.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
BACKUP PERSONNEL: In the absence of the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent will assume responsibilities for overseeing food safety and quality assurance programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Individual must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.

Seaboard Triumph Foods employs approximately 2,800 individuals, processes 22,300 hogs per day, and ships out over 25 million pounds of meat every week.
A full line of fresh pork products for international, retail, food service, and further processing markets are produced. Under a long standing marketing agreement between the principals, Seaboard Foods will market and sell the pork produced at the new Sioux City plant, together with the pork products from Triumph Foods’ St. Joseph, Mo., and Seaboard Foods, Guymon, Okla., plants. Today, pork products are marketed into domestic markets under the PrairieFresh® Premium Pork brand and international markets under the Seaboard Farms® and St. Joe Pork® brands
