Overview
This position is responsible for analyzing, processing, coordinating, performing, documenting and updating the Cascade asset health management system. Additionally, this position has responsibility for specific analysis and updates of Cascade and Powerbase data specifically required for NERC and SERC compliance, including FAC-008, PRC-005 and PRC-006-SERC-03 and later revisions.
Responsibilities
Position may be filled at the Substation System Coordinator Associate, Intermediate or Senior level based on the successful candidate’s background, education, and experience. Additional responsibilities may be included for higher levels of the role.
- Possesses or has the ability to develop a combination of systems knowledge and substation equipment knowledge to support achievement of complex end-user objectives. Directs or coordinates the development of Cascade-based analyses associated with business initiatives that often involve equipment maintenance triggers based on asset health indicators.
- Possesses a basic understanding or ability to gain understanding of multiple interfacing systems to Cascade, such as Oracle Financials, Powerbase, DETS, Doble, Alber, TOA4, etc. in order to monitor and identify issues with inbound/outbound data flow. Acts as the primary business contact for questions relating to these interfaces.
- Serves as primary business contact with IT system administrator to provide analysis of and solutions to complex production problems often involving data flows across modules and/or systems, troubleshooting, field computer problems, etc. Works closely with IT to accurately communicate functional needs, problems, issues, and enhancements that require IT assistance, and oversees effort through successful resolution.
- Monitors Cascade business processes and asset health data in accordance with substation maintenance programs. Works with System Engineers & SC&M leaders to suggest and implement changes to maintenance procedures.
- Provides user application access, monitors Cascade business processes, applies & adapts maintenance triggers, sets up & applies maintenance procedures, maintains electronic inspection forms, generates system reports, sets up new equipment locations & positions, etc. Understands data needs associated with reporting requirements, the impact of changes/additions/deletions of this data, etc. across modules and applications.
- Assists Substation Engineers with capital project work order execution and documentation including creating commissioning work orders, creating substation and equipment assets and locations, recording asset nameplate data and test results.
- Maintain Cascade and Powerbase records for NERC and SERC compliance requirements related to FAC-008, PRC-006, PRC-006-SEC-03 and PRC-005-6 and later revisions.
- Acts independently under general direction.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required.
- Demonstrated history of solving problems with systems design and/or process improvements using current systems and tools across assignments, applications, and/or departments.
- Requires PC proficiency, including knowledge of Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with Cascade and Powerbase software or demonstrated ability to quickly master new software applications.
- Knowledge of electrical substation, power plant or industrial operations, engineering, maintenance, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with or ability to become proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Cascade, Powerbase, Cascader, DrawDT, and related corporate information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with wide latitude for independent assignments and decisions.
