The primary responsibility of this position is to provide safety support to field employees and drive continuous improvement. This includes evaluating safe work practices, interpreting safety policy, procedures, and rules, supporting safety committees, facilitating incident investigation, conducting safety field observations, help create and lead safety related training, and other operational needs as appropriate.
• Support supervisors, crew leads and others to evaluate work practices and determine safe methods. This includes interpreting safety policy, procedures, and rules.
• Serve as the safety expert to ensure all workers fully understand safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
• Conduct regular field safety observations and reviews; assess compliance with rules, procedures, and practices
• Deliver courageous, constructive coaching that drives continuous improvement.
• Proactively review and update safety rules, procedures, programs, and training materials.
• Collaborate with peers and business SMEs to integrate industry best practices.
• Participate and/or facilitate safety related working groups to ensure all solutions to issues adhere to OSHA and the Company’s safety rules, procedures, and policies.
• Maintain routine, meaningful communication with supervisors and senior leadership; summarize field findings and program updates; tailor messages to the audience.
• Provide evidence-based recommendations and escalate concerns when necessary.
• Effectively communicate recent safety messages to the field and communicate safety concerns back to Safety Operations.
• Facilitate and support incident investigations.
• Lead safety related projects and initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule and will include but isn’t limited to providing contractor safety on boarding and safety field observations.
