Seasonal Admissions and Experiences Zoo Worker (18+)

Milwaukee County Zoo - Visitor Services

Hourly Pay Range: ­$11.23 - $16.82

 

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Guest Services Supervisor, Visitor Services Specialist Lead, and Visitor Services Specialist, the Seasonal Zoo Worker in Admissions and Experiences is responsible for engaging with guests by greeting, assisting with ticket sales, and ensuring a positive experience. Providing an exceptional guest experience is our top priority. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong computer and communication skills. Most shifts are spent standing and working outdoors in admissions, parking, and various guest experiences throughout the Zoo.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service - The Visitor Services Department is committed to delivering an outstanding guest experience and promoting animal conservation by adhering to standard procedures and delivering narratives with kindness and consistency.
  • Cash Handling - Responsible for accurately handling ticket sales and processing transactions using a Point-of-Sale system.
  • Operation – Perform opening, operating, and closing tasks, including cleaning assigned areas and picking up debris to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for guests. Familiarity with Admissions and Experiences procedures is required, including cleaning, debris removal, equipment inspections, and operation of exhibits.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • 18 years of age or older upon application.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous work experience handling money.
  • Previous customer service work experience.

 

 

NOTE:  This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
