Job DetailsJob Location: Marietta, OH 45750Position Type: SalaryJob Shift: 8-Hour Day ShiftJob Category: LeadershipIn an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Health Information Services & Clinical Documentation Supervisor manages the daily operations and leads the department in maintaining the security of the complete medical record. This role also ensures accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation that supports quality patient care, appropriate reimbursement, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor serves as an operational leader, partnering closely with physicians, coding, quality, and revenue cycle stakeholders. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
Oversee the receipt, scanning, indexing, completion, and storage of medical records
Ensure timely record completion and availability in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Monitor record accuracy, integrity, and completeness across all care settings
Maintain master patient index (MPI) accuracy and support duplicate resolution efforts
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
Oversee release of information (ROI) processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant disclosure
Support audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews related to medical records and documentation
Maintain current knowledge of the MS-DRG system, CCs/MCCs, impact on quality, risk of mortality, severity of illness and CMI as well as ICD-10 coding systems and the guidelines related to Clinical Documentation Integrity.
Facilitates appropriate clinical documentation to ensure that the severity of illness, risk of mortality and level of services provided are accurately reflected in the health record.
Assists in overall quality, timeliness and completeness of the quality health record to ensure appropriate data, provider communication and quality outcomes.
Communicates with and educates physicians and all other members of the healthcare team regarding clinical documentation and monitors provider participation. Identifies learning opportunities for healthcare providers.
Ensures that direct reports communicate, educate and engage with physicians and other members of the healthcare team regarding clinical documentation.
Assists with the collection, aggregation and analysis of data.
Collaborates in development and monitoring of performance to measure process outcomes, quality and productivity, and to ensure continual process improvements.
Works directly with clinical partners to ensure all documentation is accurate and completed timely.
Implements action plans to correct deficiencies, create efficiencies and/or improve financial operations.
Interview, hire, orient, supervise, develop, evaluate, and retain staff in conjunction with the Director.
Maintains records/logs on staff annual competencies, education, orientation, absenteeism, etc. and validate compliance with system policies, personnel policies, and other appropriate policies, standards.
Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment.
Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance.
Granted authority to perform supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities, as necessary.
QualificationsMinimum Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration or related health field required.
In lieu of education, will consider a minimum of 10 years of HIS managerial experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in any clinical documentation required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
