About the role
HealthFitness is looking for Basketball Officials to join the recreation team at our corporate client site in Torrance, California (CA).
This is a seasonal position officiating one or more basketball games per week. Games are Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Basketball courts are outdoors.
Responsible for officiating recreational basketball leagues on a seasonal basis.Key Accountabilities
Officiate basketball games and instruct players on the rules of the game as necessary.
Referee two consecutive one hour games, one or more nights per week.
Reports any problems with games and/or players to the site Management.
Officiate the recreational games while keeping a professional playing atmosphere.
Be punctual and professional in the fulfillment of the responsibilities.
Exercise authority in an impartial, firm, and controlled manner.
Dress neatly and appropriately for each shift.
Discipline participants utilizing facility agreed on standards to address disruptive or unsafe behavior.
Other duties as needed/assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 30 days of hire.
Must be a certified basketball official.
Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
Knowledge of standard rules of play of the game being played.
Active listening skills and ability to relate to and provide excellent customer service to participants and spectators.
Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability make quick decisions, possess mature judgment, and sound decision-making.
Professional, reliable, and people friendly.
Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.
