Job Description:

The Opportunity

Cotality’s Contractor Workspace solution is a SaaS product design to help insurance repair contractors and building repair network businesses manage their workload and finances. The product is live in the UK and we are now laser-focused on expanding our footprint across the market.

We are looking for specialised industry expertise to deepen the alignment between our innovative platform and the contractor’s day to day operations, a subject matter expert or Product Consultant with a strong background in UK Construction and or Construction Finance, either from a construction software background or hands on
experience within a contractor business. This person will use their existing knowledge to translate operational workflow, work allocation and the complex financial needs of contractors (CIS, Retentions, tax workflows) into actionable product strategies. Your goal is to help us align our product to deliver maximum value for our clients, ensuring our solution becomes the industry standard.


Core Duties & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Product Alignment

Industry Deep-Dive: Leverage your domain expertise to analyze "real-world" contractor operations and ensure our roadmap anticipates and meets complex industry needs.

Compliance & Finance Leadership: Champion the development of advanced financial features (e.g., CIS compliance, Retentions, project accounting), ensuring our solution offers best-in-class handling of UK construction finance.

Roadmap Influence: Partner with Product Managers to prioritize high-impact features. You will provide the business case for functionalities that drive customer retention and market acquisition.

Value Proposition: Collaborate with Sales and Leadership to refine our market messaging, articulating the unique value we deliver to UK contractors.

2. Solution Design & Integration

Workflow Mapping: utilize visual tools (Miro, LucidChart) to map client ecosystems, identifying opportunities to streamline their financial operations within the Cotality platform.

Integration Strategy: Define business requirements for seamless integrations with standard UK financial packages (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks), ensuring data accuracy and operational efficiency for our clients.

User-Centric Engineering: Work closely with engineering and QA to interpret customer needs, ensuring technical updates deliver practical, commercially valuable solutions..

3. Client Success & Enablement (formerly "Client Enablement & Adoption")

Implementation Expertise: Act as a strategic consultant for key accounts, guiding them through onboarding to ensure their financial operations transition effortlessly to our SaaS platform.

Knowledge Sharing: Create industry-leading collateral (release notes, video demos, guides) that highlights the business benefits of our continuous product updates.

Product Evolution Loop: Maintain a proactive dialogue with customers to capture usage data and feedback, feeding insights directly into planning tools (Jira / Aha!) to inform future innovation

    The Ideal Candidate Profile

    1. Strategic Industry Authority

    Construction Finance Expertise: We are looking for authoritative knowledge of the UK construction financial landscape. You should possess deep insight into Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), Retentions, Applications for Payment, and UK VAT handling. We need someone who doesn't just understand these rules, but understands how to optimize them digitally for high-performing contractor businesses.

    Financial Ecosystem Fluency: You have a sophisticated understanding of the UK accounting software market. Whether through direct integration experience or advanced operational usage, you are an expert in the workflows of Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks and understand how external platforms should seamlessly connect with them.

    2. Product & Solution Strategy

    Workflow Architecture: You are skilled at resolving complex operational challenges and visualising streamlined solutions.

    Data-Driven Insight: You possess strong analytical creativity, capable of interpreting usage data and client feedback to shape a winning product roadmap.

    Technical Familiarity: with SQL, APIs (REST/SOAP), or data analytics would be an advantage.

    3. Professional Attributes

    Stakeholder Leadership: You have a proven track record of influencing outcomes through evidence.

    You can explain complex financial concepts to technical teams and technical concepts to business stakeholders with equal clarity.


    Agile Mindset: You thrive in fast-paced environments focused on rapid iteration and market adoption, always looking for the next opportunity to deliver value.

    Client Success Focus: You are comfortable taking a hands-on approach with key accounts, coordinating implementations, and ensuring early adopters achieve rapid ROI.

    Soft Skills:

    Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to technical teams and vice versa.

    Influence: Proven track record of managing stakeholders and influencing positive outcomes through evidence.

    Agility: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where the goal is rapid iteration and market adoption.

    Implementation Support: Coordinate new customer implementations and provide software application training via web-based or on-site methods.
