Overview

Program Director - Diagnostic Medical Sonography

 

The Program Director Diagnostic Medical Sonography manages faculty and other academic staff and ensures effective leadership of his or her department and students. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for all applicable accreditation commission standards or agency regulations as well as all programmatic outcomes. The Program Director is also required to implement, monitor, and uphold all applicable policies and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for professionalism and conduct within the program
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to faculty and staff, ensuring alignment with institutional goals
  • Ensure departmental operations comply with accreditor standards and institutional policies
  • Maintain legal and regulatory compliance related to program safety and operations.
  • Recruit, train, orient, and supervise program faculty
  • Oversee faculty performance through regular classroom observations, evaluations, and professional development
  • Ensure faculty files are complete and up-to-date as required by the Academic Dean
  • Promote a learning environment that is active, respectful, and student-centered
  • Ensure the academic integrity and quality of the program's instruction
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts
  • Monitor and ensure that appropriate surveys (student, faculty, etc.) are conducted and analyzed for improvement
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, offering coaching and support as needed
  • Ensure student satisfaction, engagement, and positive learning outcomes.
  • Support institutional goals related to student completion, licensure, and placement
  • Ensure full compliance with programmatic and institutional accreditation requirements
  • Prepare for and participate in site visits, advisory committee meetings, and accreditation reports or self-studies
  • Review and manage course, faculty, and student schedules
  • Participate in student orientations and graduation ceremonies
  • Contribute to the program budgeting process and manage procurement of instructional materials
  • Monitor and support Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), including timely grade audits and advising
  • Engage in local professional networks and represent the organization in the community
  • Participate in campus-wide events and initiatives that support student and community engagement
  • Teach courses as required and as permitted by programmatic accrediting bodies
  • Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics
  • Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and an Associate's degree in Medical Sonography or related field (required)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in OB/GYN and abdominal sonography with a minimum of 2 years in abdomen and OB/GYN (required)
  • Documented course work in instructional methodologies, evaluation and assessment (required)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in curriculum development (required)
  • Previous teaching experience (preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience in curriculum development, instructional methodologies, evaluation and assessment (preferred)

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
  • This position is designated as On Campus or On site; Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.
