We’re looking for compassionate and dependable individuals to join our team as Special Education Bus Aides. In this role, you’ll play an important part in creating a safe, caring, and positive experience for students who require additional support during transportation.


What You’ll Do

As a Special Education Bus Aide, you’ll assist in the safe transportation and care of students with unique medical, physical, or behavioral needs. You’ll work closely with the driver to ensure every student’s journey is safe, comfortable, and supported — helping them arrive ready to learn each day.


Responsibilities

  • Support the safe transport of students with special needs as outlined in their Individual Education Program (IEP)
  • Provide continuous attention and care to students’ medical, physical, or behavioral needs while in transit
  • Assist with loading and unloading students, including lifting or moving when necessary
  • Secure students safely with seatbelts, harnesses, or mobility devices as needed
  • Stay attentive to students’ medical conditions and respond appropriately in emergency situations following established procedures
  • Communicate with the bus or vandriver and supervisor about any concerns or changes in a student’s behavior or condition
  • Interact with students, families, and staff with patience, empathy, and professionalism
  • Help foster a caring, respectful environment on every route

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working or volunteering with children preferred
  • Experience with children with disabilities is highly desirable
  • Must meet all company and state safety standards
