About this role

Position Summary:

Uses engineering principles to design, develop and evaluate sensor assemblies.

 

Position Requirements:

Design

  1. Identify customer needs and develop product solutions to meet all applicable requirements based on product design and function.
  2. Identify appropriate concepts and organize functional model development (including design, building, and testing) to verify concepts.
  3. Establish design concepts, BOM’s, and Engineering assumptions for customer quotations.
  4. Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, DFMEA, specifications, NRE Costs and other types of engineering documentation.
  5. Work with and/or direct Technicians and Designers in product development activities.
  6. Develop detailed drawing sets and specifications from design concept stage through production at the component and assembly level. Perform statistical analysis such as SPC, to verify part/process conformance/capabilities. Analyze dimensional stack-ups and make use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
  7. Coordinate efforts with customer engineering to provide necessary technical support.
  8. Assist other engineers with high level technical and scientific problems related to sensors.
  9. Identify, track, and resolve open issues for products under development.
  10. Interface with peers, technical resources outside of the company (university professors, etc.), vendors and customers.

Prototype

  1. Create prototype process flows.
  2. Quote prototype materials.
  3. Procure prototype sources/tooling and verify tooling capability.

Test and Validate

  1. Establish and implement appropriate Engineering Development and Design Validation test plans.
  2. Perform prototype product failure analysis on customer returns, scrap & DV/PV parts, and reports results.
  3. Review DVP&R and test results.

Support Quality and Production

  1. Provide moderate support of APQP activities, plant support, purchasing, sales and failure analysis.
  2. Propose and evaluate cost saving solutions for existing products.

Other

  1. Assist in the development of procedures and implement those procedures required for TS16949 and ISO 14001.
  2. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
  3. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  4. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

 

Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field, required.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office, required.
  3. Supports engineering team during customer meetings, required.
  4. Intermediate project management knowledge, required.
  5. Provide intermediate technical knowledge in most aspects of a project(s), required.
  6. Four (4) plus years of experience to be considered, required.

  • May mentor or coach.
