We are currently seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of Design Engineer - Level II, located in Endicott, NY.  The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IT/Datacom solutions. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and improving design-to-manufacture products. The Design Engineer will manage prototype and layout work, systems, and processes, using CAD and other software, and conduct tests to continue pushing the industry forward.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop new products, systems, and procedures. Create detailed designs, blueprints, and technical drawings using CAD software. Research appropriate materials and manufacturing processes. Develop prototypes and modify designs based on test results and feedback. Lead the development phase of new design projects.
  • Analysis and Testing: Conduct analysis and simulations to evaluate design performance and identify potential issues. Perform testing on prototypes and finished products to ensure they meet safety, performance, and quality standards. Analyze data from tests to identify areas for improvement. Perform cost analysis for project engineering.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with Quality Assurance and lower level design engineers to establish the reliability requirements of busbars products. Communicate design concepts, plans, and progress to stakeholders. Prepare reports and documentation for projects. Understand, follow, and assist lower level Engineers to follow applicable Company practices, policies and procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve design problems and issues. Develop innovative solutions to improve product performance and efficiency.
  • Industry Standards and Regulations: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the field.
  • Work Flexibility: Ability to manage multiple projects at once. Understand and follow all applicable company practices, policies, and procedures. Conduct all work compliant with safety rules and regulations. Perform other work duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience with modeling tools (CAD, Pro E, or Solidworks) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with high-current paths, copper/brass design.
  • Working knowledge and application of principles and techniques commonly employed in the design and manufacture interconnect products such as metal fabrication, die cast, stamped and formed, and plastic injection molded components.
  • Working knowledge of how the designed solutions may be used and help in developing the qualification tests and reliability parameters.
  • Possess a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Travel may be required, both domestic and international.
