Overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Head of Rail Freight to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will manage rail freight operations, ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods, adherence to industry regulations, and delivery of exceptional customer service. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage a team, and a comprehensive understanding of air freight processes. You will serve as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth daily operations while fostering continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily rail freight operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of rail freight coordinators, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Monitor and oversee rail freight shipments, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
• Communicate effectively with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure smooth handling of shipments.
• Streamline operational processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Handle escalations, resolve operational issues, and manage exceptions in the shipping process.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international shipping standards.
• Collaborate with other departments such as customer service, sales, and warehousing to ensure seamless operations.
• Prepare and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track team performance and operational efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, clients, and partners to ensure top-quality service.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve air freight services and align with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Polish and very good English skills
• Proven experience in rail freight logistics, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of rail freight operations, international trade, and customs procedures.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on motivating and developing team members.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, CargoWise).
• Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations related to rail freight.
• A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
