The Key Purpose of this role is to perform optimisation and modification of process control systems while supporting the installation of process control systems. The role is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and repairing equipment, as well as optimising packaging equipment and associated devices to ensure plant availability, operational efficiency, and consistent product quality.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Process Control & Equipment Operation

  • Operate packaging machines and process control equipment according to standard operating procedures.

  • Operate and control plant and process equipment to ensure stable and efficient production.

  • Calibrate instruments and maintain accuracy of measurement and control systems.

  • Conduct autonomous maintenance activities on packaging and process control equipment.

  • Manage quality at source to ensure product quality standards are consistently met.

Maintenance, Repairs & Optimisation

  • Plan and prepare maintenance and repair jobs effectively.

  • Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on process control systems and associated equipment.

  • Continuously improve and optimise plant, process equipment, and control systems.

  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives to procure replacement parts when required.

  • Troubleshoot packaging process control systems and implement corrective actions.

Process Control Software & Systems

  • Interpret process description specifications and conduct modifications or optimisations of process control software in line with specifications and software standards.

  • Identify process control software deviations and resolve or recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Support the process control software change management process.

  • Maintain the integrity and security of process control software systems.

  • Support the development, upgrade, and execution of preventative maintenance procedures for process control systems.

Safety, Health, Environment & Housekeeping

  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.

  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards within the workplace.

  • Apply 5S standards and practices consistently across all work areas.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment at all times.

Planning, Documentation & Communication

  • Locate and utilise plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation and systems.

  • Communicate effectively within teams and across functional areas.

  • Contribute to self and team development through continuous learning and skills enhancement.

  • Improve personal competence and operational flexibility to support business needs.

Engineering & Project Support

  • Provide engineering and project support for new and existing equipment.

  • Contribute recommendations related to equipment installation, upgrades, and enhancements.

  • Maintain working knowledge of new technologies, instrumentation, and software through training, workshops, and industry exposure.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation and Control.

  • Two to three years’ experience in a relevant process control, packaging, or industrial environment.
